Academy Mews Dance Studios, as part of the Camden and London community, is seeking to support more artists in the development and advancement of their creative journeys by creating a 2021 Artists Residency Programme.
Covid-19 has had a huge financial impact on the dance, music and theatre communities across the country as well as independent businesses like ourselves. By providing residency space, we hope to remove barriers for artists who cannot afford to hire the space they need. We will be providing space for 25 hours (off-peak) and 5 hours (peak) throughout the specified residency period, and free AMDS membership for 3 months once a final showcase has been held.
Artists residencies will culminate in a final showing of their work in our Balcony Studio. This will be an opportunity for showcasing their work, a professional space to invite producers/agents, hopefully find funding and future collaborators, and of course make new contacts. AMDS will also provide support with media and publicity.
The programme begins in January 2021, with applications being welcomed from August 2020.
There will be four single residency periods across the 2021 programme, one every three months.
Two periods will be available for artists aged 16 to 24 years, and two periods will be available for over 25s.
All residencies will culminate with a final show, which will be entirely new work or an unseen work in-progress.
If you are an artist focused on dance, theatre or music, you are eligible to apply.
Successful applicants will have access to all studios (25 hours off-peak and 5 hours peak) during their residency (subject to availability).
