After a successful series of AMDS Residencies in 2021, we have supported 4 emerging and young artists. We are now back with our Artists Residency Programme for London artists seeking support in developing and advancing their creative journeys.
Covid-19 has had a huge financial impact on the dance, music and theatre communities across the country and independent businesses like ourselves. By providing residency space, we hope to remove barriers for artists who cannot afford to hire the space they need. We will be providing space for 30 hours throughout the residency period, and free AMDS membership for 3 months, once a final showcase has been held.
Artist’s residencies will culminate in a final showing either online (pre-recorded/live streamed) or performed at our Balcony Studio. This will be an opportunity for showcasing their work, a professional space to invite producers/agents and find funding or future collaborators. AMDS will also provide support with marketing.
You will get a chance to work with a professional mentor for 5 hours during your time at the residency. 5 hours of mentorship/feedback time with our team at the Academy Mews Studio.
The first round for April – May 2022 was for young artists aged 18-24 which was offered to Daniela and Florencia from Möy Möy Collective.
The second round will take place in October – November 2022, which will be for emerging artists 25 years and above.
Few more key points about our residency:
– If you are an artist focused on dance, theatre, music or any other performance arts you are eligible to apply.
– All residencies will culminate in a final showing, which will be new work or the development of previous work. This can be a work-in-progress.
– There will be an interview round, with the date mentioned in the application form. Please, make sure you are available on the day to be considered.
