My name is Emanuela and I am a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher, Italian originally based in the UK.
I recently returned to London and am trying to rebuild my classes and dance projects here in town. I have set a couple of classes and rented the space at the Mews yesterday and will have another one next Tuesday.
I am in the latin and afro caribbean world and traveled the world performing and teaching since 2015 and now just trying to rebuild from after covid and I am trying to get some help in any way I can.
I decided to join the BASIC MEMBERSHIP, cause it could be good for me in terms of dropping flyers and having my classes listed in the website. I will try and have classes as regularly as I can but still I do travel a bit so it’s easier to start this way.
I am the creator of a style called Afrolyrical Mambo (which is SALSA FUsion) and or sometimes I call it Afrolrycal Latin fusion.
The style is a fusion of Afrocuban (the root of salsa) ballet, jazz and contemporary and salsa (on2 and cuban).
This really represents my broad dancing background.
The classes are usually intense, I keep them open level, but there is a challenge for whoever takes it. The first 30 minutes is body conditioning and stretching, 15 minutes technique, diagonals and others. The last 45 minutes I teach a sequence and I work on a variety of music from common salsa rhythm to more intricate type of music.
<INTENSIVE TRAININGs >
What will you do in the intensive course?
FOUNDATION & TECHNIQUE:
Basic body movement mechanics, also including afrocuban movement – history and evolution
Technique of turns, and arms, coordination.
Lyrical contemporary technique and other styles applied into salsa to create Afrolyricalmambo.
MUSICALITY & MUSIC INTERPRETATIONS:
We will touch different aspects of musicality and will dance on a variety of music from most common and basic salsa rhythms to more intricated ones and a variety of music range that are not necessarily salsa.
In the class we will also see what it means using technique and knowing a specific set of moves to express music without necessarily knowing a routine.
EXPRESSION & EMOTIONS:
Self-expression, emotions are ultimately the reasons why we dance, we dance to express, to feel, to give… and for all that reasons that come from inside and my aim is to help people to find interconnection within you through music and movement.
FEEDBACK, COACHING AND GROWTH:
You will get feedback and things you have to work in order to grow at whichever level you are.
You will challenge yourself outside your comfort zone and creativity
You will push yourself beyond your limits and outside your comfort zone.
