Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz & Blues
Instructor and choreographer
Sarah Spoon (they/them) is an instructor in Lindy hop, solo jazz and blues. These are a family of dances created by African Americans during segregation, in the 1930s in Harlem. Since then they have slowly evolved into what we see today, and though Sarah doesn’t look like the originators they are honoured and privileged to be part of something so joyful.
Sarah has been teaching since 2015, and has been teaching, competing and performing internationally 2017. They have a natural enthusiasm for teaching, love to watch their students develop. Using humour, kind honesty and relatable metaphors are key elements of their teaching style. When Spoon’s class is laughing that’s when they know they’re doing something right!
Sarah welcomes private lesson bookings, and delights in helping beginners find their feet, literally!
